Theft Library initiates Credit Card Theft Reporting and Detection
Saturday, May 25, 2002 1:00 PM ET
Today the Theft Library introduces its latest feature... Credit Card Theft Reports. We are asking anyone who has used their credit card online and had their credit card information stolen to report this theft to us. We will statistically analyze all Credit Card Theft Reports received from our visitors to determine where the theft occured.

There are hundreds of websites on the Internet that are collecting Credit Card information and storing it in customer databases. Most are secure, but not all. Thousands of credit cards are stolen and re-sold online every day.

However, there is little incentive for these insecure websites to put the required resources into creating a secure database of this information. They don't lose money when there is a break in, their customers usually don't find out about the theft, and they don't want anyone to know because of the bad publicity it would cause.

The Theft Library will be watching out for insecure websites. We will determine who you are, and alert the purchasing public to your crime against Internet commerce.

If you have had your credit card information stolen, please help us.
